Isaiah Jamari Rodgers Sr. (born January 7, 1998) is an American professionalfootballcornerback for theMinnesota Vikings of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theUMass Minutemen.

College career

Rodgers played for the UMass Minutemen in college. He was named toPro Football Focus' First-teamAll-American Team as a senior cornerback that could be moved to deep safety in special packages. That season, Rodgers had anNCAA-leading 53 kickoffs returned for 1,295 yards.[3] On defense, he made 42 total tackles, four interceptions including one returned for a touchdown, ten passes defended and one forced fumble and fumble recovery. During his college career, Rodgers compiled 125 total tackles (9.5 for a loss) with 11 interceptions including three returned for a touchdown, and four fumble recoveries and forced fumbles. On special teams, he posted 99 total kickoff returns for 2,338 yards (23.6 average), in addition to 21 punt returns for 156 yards (7.4 average) and one touchdown.[4] Rodgers held his ownPro Day after his senior season showcasing his defensive diversity at safety and defensive back; he ran a 4.28–second40-yard dash.[5]

Indianapolis Colts

Rodgers Sr. was selected by theIndianapolis Colts of theNational Football League (NFL) with the 211th pick in the sixth round of the2020 NFL draft in a pick acquired in a trade with theNew York Jets in exchange forQuincy Wilson.[4] Rodgers scored his first career touchdown on a 101-yard kick return in a Week 5 loss to theCleveland Browns.[7] He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.[8]

On December 28, 2022, the Colts placed Rodgers on season–endinginjured reserve with a knee injury he suffered in Week 16 against theLos Angeles Chargers. He finished the year with 34 tackles, three pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.[9]

In June 2023, Rodgers was probed by the NFL for violations of the league'sgambling policy. He was accused of opening asportsbook account under the name of a personal associate and making roughly one hundred bets, including bets on his own team.[10] On June 28, 2023,ESPN reported that Rodgers, among several other NFL players, would be suspended for the entirety of the2023 NFL season for violating the league's policy on gambling.[11] Shortly after the suspension was announced, Rodgers was waived by the Colts along with teammateRashod Berry.[12]

Philadelphia Eagles

On August 28, 2023, Rodgers was signed by thePhiladelphia Eagles, but sat out the entire season due to his suspension.[13] On April 23, 2024, Rodgers was reinstated by the NFL.[14]

In Weeks 9 and 13 in2024, Rodgers started in place of an injuredDarius Slay, recording eight tackles across two Eagles wins.[15][16][17] On the opening drive of the Eagles' Week 12 matchup against theLos Angeles Rams, Rodgers forced a fumble on running backKyren Williams that was recovered by teammateNakobe Dean for a turnover.[18]

In a Divisional Playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams on January 19, 2025, with the Eagles clinging to a 16–15 lead in the 4th quarter, Rodgers recovered a fumble by Kyren Williams and returned it 40 yards to the Rams' 10-yard line, leading to a field goal that increased the Eagles lead to 19–15 in a game they eventually won 28–22.[19] He had one pass defended inSuper Bowl LIX, a 40–22 win over theKansas City Chiefs.[20]

Minnesota Vikings

On March 12, 2025, Rodgers signed with theMinnesota Vikings on a two-year, $15 million contract.[21]

In Week 3, in the first half of the Vikings' Week 3 matchup against theCincinnati Bengals, Rodgers forced three turnovers while scoring two touchdowns as the Vikings won 48–10. Rodgers became the first Vikings player to score multiple defensive touchdowns in a game in franchise history, and the first player in NFL history to have an interception returned for a touchdown, a fumble returned for a touchdown, and force two fumbles in one game.[22] For this performance, he won NFC Defensive Player of the Week and became the first player to ever receive a perfect 99.9 game score byPro Football Focus (PFF) since the site began grading player performances in 2006.[23][24]
