ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn al-Wāfidal-Lakhmī (Arabic:علي بن الحسين بن الوافد اللخمي; c. 1008 – 1074), known inLatin Europe asAbenguefith, was anAndalusianArab[1][2] pharmacologist and physician fromToledo. He was the vizier ofAl-Mamun of Toledo. His main work isKitāb al-Adwiya al-Mufrada (كتاب الأدوية المفردة), translated into Latin asDe Medicamentis Simplicibus [de].[3]
Ibn al-Wafid was mainly apharmacist inToledo, and he used the techniques and methods available inalchemy to extract at least 520 different kinds of medicines from variousplants andherbs.
One of his students wasIbn al-Lūnquh.
