Heliodoxa is a genus ofhummingbirds in the familyTrochilidae.
The genusHeliodoxa was introduced in 1850 by the English ornithologistJohn Gould.[1] The genus name combines theAncient Greekhēlios meaning "sun" anddoxa meaning "glory" or "magnificence".[2] Thetype species was subsequently designated byCharles Lucien Bonaparte as theviolet-fronted brilliant.[3][4]
