TheHampton River is atidal inlet in the towns ofHampton andHampton Falls,New Hampshire, theUnited States. It is surrounded by the largestsalt marsh in New Hampshire, covering over 3,800 acres (15 km2).[1]
The river is formed by the confluence of theTaylor andHampton Falls rivers. The Hampton River flows for one mile (1.6 km) before broadening into Hampton Harbor, anestuary which also receives flow from small tidal channels such as theBrowns River and theBlackwater River. Hampton Harbor exits to theAtlantic Ocean through the Hampton Harbor Inlet, a dredged channel betweenHampton Beach andSeabrook which is spanned by theHampton Bridge.
