Gregory Stanley Kabat (May 21, 1911 – January 12, 1994) was an Americangridiron football player and coach. He playedCanadian football professionally as arunning back for eight seasons with theWinnipeg Blue Bombers of theCanadian Football League (NFL). He helped the Blue Bombers win twoGrey Cup championships in 1935 and 1939.
He playedcollege football for theUniversity of Wisconsin, where he was named to the1932 College Football All-America Team as aguard. Kabat was also anAll-American thrower for theWisconsin Badgers track and field team, placing 4th in thediscus throw at the1931 NCAA Track and Field Championships.[1]
Kabat later coached football atVancouver College, theUniversity of British Columbia, and Cantwell High School inMontebello, California. He was inducted into theCanadian Football Hall of Fame in 1966.
In 1948, Kabat was hired at the head football and headtrack coach at Cantwell High School inMontebello, California.[2] He resigned as football and track coach in 1966, but remained a member of the teaching faculty at the school.[3]
