Glæsisvellir (Glittering Plains) was a location inJotunheim inNorse mythology. It is mentioned in sources such asBósa saga ok Herrauds,Hervarar saga,[1]Þorsteins þáttr bæjarmagns andHelga þáttr Þórissonar.
In Glæsisvellir could be found a location calledÓdáinsakr, orÚdáinsakr (lit. "Deathless Acre", meaning the "Undying Lands"). Everyone who went there became healthy and young, and so no one ever died there. TheEireks saga víðförla is about a man who searched for and found Údáinsakr.
In theHervarar saga, it is the kingdom ofGudmund and his sonHöfund. Gudmund was a friendlyjötunn who was popular in later sagas.
InGesta Danorum,Saxo Grammaticus makes a reference to Odainsaker as the place where theScanian governor Fialler retired after having been attacked by the Danish kingWiglek:
