Electoral district of Burwood (New South Wales)

State electoral district of New South Wales, Australia

Burwood was anelectoral district of theLegislative Assembly in theAustralian state ofNew South Wales named after and including theSydney suburb ofBurwood. It was originally created in 1894, when multi-member districts were abolished,[1] and the four memberCanterbury was largely divided betweenAshfield, Burwood, Canterbury,Petersham andSt George. In 1920, with the introduction ofproportional representation, it was absorbed intoRyde, along withDrummoyne,Gordon andWilloughby. It was recreated in 1927, but was abolished in 1988 and partly replaced byStrathfield.[2][3][4]
