Dorothy Alison (4 April 1925 – 17 January 1992) was an Australian stage, film and television actress.[1]
Dorothy Alison was born in theNew South Wales mining city ofBroken Hill and educated atSydney Girls High School.[2] She moved toLondon in 1949 to further her career.[3] Aside from her numerous, mostly supporting film roles, she appeared in several television programmes and mini-series, including a prominent role inA Town Like Alice,The Adventures of Robin Hood as the Duchess Constance and other TV shows.[4][5]
She was nominated for twoBAFTA awards: Most Promising Newcomer forMandy (1952) and Best British Actress forReach for the Sky (1956).[6][7] For her performance inA Town Like Alice, she won the1982 Logie Award (Australian television) for Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Telemovie.[8] She died at the age of 66 in London in 1992.[1]
