Dixie is acensus-designated place (CDP) inFayette andNicholas counties,West Virginia, United States. Dixie is located onWest Virginia Route 16, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) north ofGauley Bridge. Dixie has apost office withZIP code 25059.[4] As of the2020 census, its population was 227 (down from 291 at the2010 census),[2][5] with 153 residents in Nicholas County and 74 in Fayette County.[6][7]

The community was named afterDixie, a nickname for the Southern United States, because a share of the first settlers were southerners.[8]
