Del Carmen, officially theMunicipality of Del Carmen (Surigaonon: Lungsod nan Del Carmen;Tagalog:Bayan ng Del Carmen), is amunicipality in theprovince ofSurigao del Norte,Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 18,392 people.[5] The municipality was formerly calledNumancia until 1966 when it was changed to its present name, after its patroness, theVirgin of Carmel.[6][7] It is located onSiargao Island and home toSayak Airport, the island's main airport.
Del Carmen is politically subdivided into 20barangays. Each barangay consists ofpuroks while some havesitios.
