The bluegrass instrumental tune Old Dangerfield byBill Monroe was named after the town of Daingerfield.[citation needed]

2020 census

As of the2020 census, Daingerfield had a population of 2,522. The median age was 36.6 years, with 27.6% of residents under the age of 18 and 16.9% of residents 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 86.1 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 83.0 males.[8]

0.0% of residents lived in urban areas, while 100.0% lived in rural areas.[9]

There were 949 households in Daingerfield, of which 35.9% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 37.2% were married-couple households, 17.4% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 40.1% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.[8]

There were 1,081 housing units, of which 12.2% were vacant. The homeowner vacancy rate was 2.5% and the rental vacancy rate was 12.4%.[8]

Education

Daingerfield-Lone Star Independent School District is aschool district based in Daingerfield. Located inMorris County, a small portion of the district extends intoTitus County. The district has four schools in Daingerfield, includingDaingerfield High School.

The school district was rated "Academically Acceptable" in 2009 by theTexas Education Agency.[11]
