Coonoor railway station (station code: ONR[1]) is an NSG–4 categoryIndian railway station inSalem railway division ofSouthern Railway zone.[2] It servesCoonoor, a municipality town and popular hill station in theNilgiris district ofTamil Nadu. The train station is a part of theNilgiri Mountain Railway, aWorld Heritage Site. The train station is an important rail hub for trains passing toUdhagamandalam (Ooty).
It is one of the 73 stations in Tamil Nadu to be named for upgradation underAmrit Bharat Station Scheme of Indian Railways.[3]
