Conservation Sudbury, formerly[1] known as theNickel District Conservation Authority (French:L’Office de protection de la nature du district de Nickel), is aconservation authority innorthern Ontario,Canada. Conservation Sudbury manages approximately 7,580 square kilometres within the watersheds of theVermilion,Wanapitei andWhitefish rivers, as well as theLake Laurentian Conservation Area.[2]
The Nickel District Conservation Authority was created in 1973 with the merger of theJunction Creek Conservation Authority and theWhitson Valley Conservation Authority. In 2012, Authority was renamed to Conservation Sudbury.[1][3]
The Lake Laurentian Conservation Area is a conservation area in theRamsey Lake sub-watershed, and is based around theman-made Lake Laurentian.[4] It was established in 1967 by the Junction Creek Conservation Authority.[4]
