The Sunday Cat is a recreationalkeelboat, built predominantly offiberglass. It has acat rig with a singlegaff-rigged sail, aplumb stem, a nearly verticaltransom, a transom-hungrudder controlled by a woodentiller and a stubkeel, with a retractablestainless steel 80 lb (36 kg)centerboard. It displaces 1,500 lb (680 kg) and carries 300 lb (136 kg) of fixed ballast.[3]

The boat has a draft of 4.5 ft (1.4 m) with the centreboard extended and 1.17 ft (0.36 m) with it retracted, allowingbeaching or ground transportation on atrailer.[3]

The boat is normally fitted with a smalloutboard motor for docking and maneuvering. The cuddy cabin has two small portlights.[1]

The mast, boom and gaff are designed for quick raising and lowering, while on the trailer or while afloat. All spars remain attached and lower onto a transom-mounted boom gallows. The mast has a steel hinge, secured by a pin.[1]
