Cem Hamit Ince (born 9 December 1993) is aGerman politician and member of theBundestag.[1] A member ofThe Left, he has representedLower Saxony since 2025.
Ince was born on 9 December 1993 inSalzgitter and is ofKurdish origin.[1][2] His grandfather moved fromEastern Anatolia to Salzgitter in the late 1960s as aguest worker and worked in theblast furnaces ofSalzgitter AG.[2][3] Ince's father also did hisapprenticeship and worked at Salzgitter AG before moving to theVolkswagen factory in Salzgitter.[2][3] His grandfather and father were alsotrade unionists.[2]
Ince graduated fromKranich-Gymnasium Salzgitter in 2012 and then trained to be electronics technician at VW Salzgitter from 2012 to 2015.[1] He also studiedbusiness administration andsoftware development at VW Salzgitter.[1] He is anIG Metall member and has been ashop steward at VW Salzgitter since 2012.[1][2] He was the youth and trainee representative at VW Salzgitter from 2014 to 2016 and the chair youth and trainee representative from 2016 to 2020.[1][2] He has been a member of the IG Metall shop steward council at VW Salzgitter since 2022.[1]
Ince has been chairman ofThe Left's branch in Salzgitter since 2021.[1] He was The Left's candidate inSalzgitter – Wolfenbüttel (constituency 49) at the2025 federal election but was not elected.[4][5] He was however elected to theBundestag on The Left'sstate list inLower Saxony.[6]
