Carolyn Wheat (born August 8, 1946) is an American mystery writer.
Wheat was born on August 8, 1946, inGreen Bay, Wisconsin to librarian Mary (née Sensiba) and engineer Lawrence Wheat.[1]
She studied at theUniversity of Toledo, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1968 and aJuris Doctor in 1971.[1]
Wheat is the author of the Cass Jameson series of mystery novels.[2] She was shortlisted for the 1984Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel forDead Men's Thoughts.[3]
In 1996 she won theAgatha Award for best short story for "Accidents Will Happen".[4] That story was also won the 1997Anthony Awards for best short story.[5] She won the 1997MacAvity Award for best mystery short story for "Cruel & Unusual" and was shortlisted in 2000 and 2003.[6]
Wheat teaches novel writing at theUniversity of San Diego.[7]
