Augusto Aníbal Álvarez Rodrich (born 12 October 1959) is aPeruvian economist and journalist who works in print, radio and television.
Rodrich was born inLima,Peru. He earned a bachelor's degree ineconomics at theUniversidad del Pacífico before earning aMaster of Public Administration from theJohn F. Kennedy School of Government atHarvard University. He also studied specialised courses atStanford University, theUniversity of Manchester andNorthwestern University.[citation needed]
He worked forGrupo Apoyo from 1980 until 2002, reaching the position of General Director of Apoyo Communications and editor of the magazinesPerú Económico,Semana Económica andDebate. He was also Director of Apoyo Opinion and Market and the Apoyo Institute.[citation needed]
He became Vice President of the Commission for Market Entry and Exit at Indecopi, Vice President ofOSIPTEL and Director ofInterbank. He also participated as advisor of projects for multilateral organisations and various processes ofprivatisation in Peru,Colombia andGuatemala.[citation needed]
He has been director of the dailyPerú.21 since its foundation until November 2008, and anchor of theradio programmeAmpliación de Noticias (news in depth,Radio Programas del Perú, RPP) and associate professor at theUniversity of the Pacific. He was director and anchor of thetelevision programmeDos Dedos de Frente (Spanish expression for "common sense",Frecuencia Latina). As of 2014[update] he has a column inLa República.[1]
He moderated the debate betweenAlan García andOllanta Humala in the2006 Peruvian general election.
