Asva is a village inSaaremaa Parish,Saare County, on the eastern part ofSaaremaa Island,Estonia.[1][2]
Before the administrative reform in 2017, the village was inLaimjala Parish.[3]
Asva is known for the settlement found here in the 1930s. From theBronze Age through theIron Age, around 900 AD, there was a largefortified settlement.[4] It had a very long continuity compared to other Nordic settlements. A large amount of archaeological finds, such as pottery, bone, and tool fragments have been made. Excavations have shown fortifications with stone and earth walls.[5]
