Arekan Javanese

Arekan is a dialect ofJavanese language spoken primarily in the regions ofSurabaya,Malang andLamongan.[1]

Classification

It belongs to theAustronesian language family, and is classified as adialect of Javanese.

Geographic distribution

It is spoken mainly in Surabaya, with speakers in Malang,Jombang,Pasuran,Mojokerto and Lamongan. [2] It is spoken by approximately 82 million people.[3]
