TheAlbena Cup, established in 1988, is an invitational women's football tournament hosted annually in the town of Albena, Bulgaria.[1] Initially conceived to promote women's football in Eastern Europe, the competition has grown to attract clubs and national teams from across the continent.[citation needed] Played in a round-robin format, the tournament serves both as a preseason warm-up and a scouting ground for emerging talent.[citation needed]
