Themeridian 90° west ofGreenwich is a line oflongitude[1]that extends from theNorth Pole across theArctic Ocean,North America, theGulf of Mexico,Central America, thePacific Ocean, theSouthern Ocean, andAntarctica to theSouth Pole.

In Antarctica, the meridian defines the western limit ofChile'sterritorial claim. The land further west is not claimed by any nation. The meridian also defines the western limit of the Lima, Antofagasta, Santiago, Puerto Montt and Punta Arenasflight information regions.

The 90th meridian west forms agreat ellipse with the90th meridian east, located midway between the Prime meridian and the180th meridian; thus, the center of theWestern Hemisphere is on this meridian.

In the United States, theMississippi River runs close to the 90th meridian, crossing the meridian several times. The cities ofSt. Louis,Memphis andNew Orleans are all close to the meridian.

One of the four45×90 points is located inRietbrock, Wisconsin, where the45th parallel north intersects with the 90th meridian west, marking the halfway point between the90° Latitude North,180th Meridian East & West,0° latitude, and0° longitude.
