The48thNational Film Awards, which was presented byDirectorate of Film Festivals, was set up in by theMinistry of Information and Broadcasting, India to acknowledge the achievements ofIndian Cinema released in the year of 2000 (although some 2001 films were awarded).[1] The ceremony took place on 12th December 2001 and the awards were given by the then-President of India,K. R. Narayanan.[citation needed]
Awards were divided into three categories as feature films, non-feature films, and books written on Indian cinema.
