Throughout 2022, between February and November, areas of theUnited Kingdom experienced significant flooding. The first wave of flooding occurred in February asStorm Franklin caused severe disruption across the country.[1]

Later in the year, in August, a flood had caused damage in Devon and Cornwall. Heavy rain caused flooding in Dorset in October whilst another wave occurred in November, affecting many parts of England and Scotland. At least two to three weeks worth of rain fell in Scotland in a twenty-four hour period on 18 November.[2]
Storm Franklin caused significant disruption in parts of the United Kingdom in February 2022 as a result of severe flooding which caused power outages and property damage across the country.[1]

Parts ofDevon andCornwall were affected.[3] Flood water covered the Tregolls roundabout inTruro.[4] InDorset, numerous properties inBridport,Burton Bradstock andWest Bay were flooded out.[5] Flooding was also experienced inWorksop inNottinghamshire.[6] InLincolnshire,Market Rasen experienced historic flooding.[7] Parts ofLeicestershire affected includedLeicester,Loughborough andThurmaston.[8]London was affected too, with flooding inBloomsbury,St Pancras station,Victoria andKentish Town.[9] Roads inPort Talbot inSouth Wales were submerged.[10] InEssex, flash floods affectedEpping Forest,Chelmsford,Braintree andHalstead.[11][12]
After heavy rains on 21 October,Bournemouth Town Centre was hit by heavy flash flooding.[13]

On 15 November, heavy rain caused flooding acrossEngland and Wales. Inwest Wales, more than 50 homes nearTenby lost electricity. As the weather moved further inland, 70 homes were blacked out nearNottingham, 86 atLoughborough, 70 nearCoventry, 30 nearWolverhampton and almost 50 inBoston.[14] A section of theDevon Expressway nearPlymouth was flooded.[15] In Wiltshire, flood warnings were made for theRiver Biss atTrowbridge andWestbury, there is also alerts for theRiver Cole and Dorcan Brook ineast Swindon, and the Upper Bristol Avon area, which coversChippenham,Melksham,Lyneham,Malmesbury andRoyal Wootton Bassett.[16] InChesham a burst pipe caused flooding in the town centre.[17] In Sussex Victoria Gardens inBrighton flooded.[18] Trains were delayed betweenThree Bridges andHaywards Heath as a result of a flooded tunnel.[19]
Between 17 and 19 November, heavy rain caused flooding in parts ofScotland with several amber warnings being put in place as a result. The flooding caused disruption on transportation. Schools closed inAngus as a result of the flooding and emergency rest centres were set up inAberdeenshire.[20]
On 25 November 2022, theMet Office issued a yellow warning for Southern England and Southern Wales for rain from 26 to 27 November 2022, where downpours could are likely to cause flooding.[21]
On 20 December, there was a number of roads flooded inDorset, after heavy rain impacted theRiver Frome,River Wriggle andRiver Stour.[22]
On 30 December, Scotland was hit by severe flooding.[23]Dumfries was impacted by heavy flooding.[24]
The floods overwhelmed a pumping station operated bySouthern Water which overflowed causing discharge of sewage to leak onto roads and car park inTotton.[25]
