The1976 Copa del Generalísimo final was the 74th final of theSpanish Cup. The match was played atSantiago Bernabéu Stadium inMadrid, on 26 June 1976, being won byAtlético Madrid, who beatReal Zaragoza 1–0.
It was the last final to be called theCopa del Generalísimo, following the death ofFrancisco Franco in November 1975. Since then, it has been called theCopa del Rey. The match was watched by KingJuan Carlos I and the eight-year-old Prince of Asturias (laterFelipe VI). Felipe became an Atlético fan after watching them win.[2]
