The1964 United States Senate election in Texas was held on November 3, 1964. IncumbentDemocraticUS senatorRalph Yarborough defeated futureUS PresidentGeorge H. W. Bush handily. This would prove to be Yarborough's final term as a senator. Bush later went on to win an election for theUS House of Representatives in1966 and was subsequently electedUS Vice President in1980, re-elected in1984, and was elected president in1988.
