The1958 Pittsburgh Pirates season was the 77th season of thePittsburgh Pirates franchise; the 72nd in theNational League. The Pirates finished second in the league standings with a record of 84–70, a 22-game improvement over1957. They ended the year in thefirst division for the first time since1948 and recorded their highest league standing since the1944edition also finished in second place.ManagerDanny Murtaugh, in his first full season at the Pirates' helm, was voted Major League Manager of the Year byThe Sporting News.
