The1940 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football team was anAmerican football team that represented the Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (now known asLouisiana Tech University) as a member of theLouisiana Intercollegiate Conference (LIC) and theSouthern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) during the1940 college football season. In their first year under head coachJoe Aillet, the Bulldogs compiled an overall record of 6–4 with 3–2 marks in both LIC and SIAA play.[1][2]

Louisiana Tech was ranked at No. 148 (out of 697 college football teams) in the final rankings under theLitkenhous Difference by Score system for 1940.[3]
