The1940 Cincinnati Bearcats football team was anAmerican football team that represented theUniversity of Cincinnati as anindependent during the1940 college football season. The Bearcats were led by head coachJoseph A. Meyer and compiled a 5–3–1 record.[1]

Cincinnati was ranked at No. 112 (out of 697 college football teams) in the final rankings under theLitkenhous Difference by Score system for 1940.[2]
