On election day, November 7, 1916,Democratic nomineeWallace Crossley won the election by a margin of 14,581 votes against his foremost opponentRepublican nominee Roy F. Britton, thereby holding Democratic control over the office of lieutenant governor. Crossley was sworn in on January 8, 1917.[2]
