The1863 Minnesota gubernatorial election was held on November 3, 1863,[1] to elect thegovernor of Minnesota.[2] Incumbent governorAlexander Ramsey was not seeking election, as he has beenelected to the Senate that January. Due to the ongoingAmerican Civil War, the Republican candidate, Stephen Miller, ran under theNational Union ticket. Miller would win the election. After Miller's victory, Governor Ramsey would resign, leavingHenry Adoniram Swift as governor between the election and inauguration of Stephen Miller. The Democratic Party chose to run its candidates under the 'Union Ticket'.
