Agubernatorial election was held inVirginia on December 6, 1823.[4] The incumbentgovernor of VirginiaJames Pleasants was re-elected unanimously.[1]

The election was conducted by theVirginia General Assembly in joint session.[3] Pleasants was elected unanimously on the first ballot.[1]
