Virginia cast 25 electoral votes for theDemocratic-Republican candidate and incumbentPresidentJames Monroe, as he ran effectively unopposed. The electoral votes forvice president were cast for Monroe'srunning mateDaniel D. Tompkins fromNew York. Each elector was chosen by the voters statewide.[2]
