The1818 Maryland gubernatorial election was held on December 14, 1818, in order to elect theGovernor of Maryland.Federalist nominee and former member of theU.S. House of Representatives fromMaryland's 8th districtCharles Goldsborough was elected by theMaryland General Assembly againstDemocratic-Republican nominee Frisby Tilghman.[1]
On election day, December 14, 1818,Federalist nomineeCharles Goldsborough was elected by theMaryland General Assembly, thereby retaining Federalist control over the office of governor. Goldsborough was sworn in as the 16thGovernor of Maryland on January 8, 1819.[2]
