The1782 Vermont Republic gubernatorial election took place on September 3, 1782.[1] It resulted in the re-election ofThomas Chittenden to a one-year term.[2]
TheVermont General Assembly met inManchester on October 10.[2] TheVermont House of Representatives appointed a committee to examine the votes of thefreemen of Vermont forgovernor,lieutenant governor,treasurer, and members of the governor's council.[2]Thomas Chittenden was re-elected to a one-year term as governor.[2]
The popular vote indicated that no candidate for lieutenant governor had received a majority.[2] In keeping with the Vermont Constitution, the choice fell to theVermont General Assembly, which chosePaul Spooner for a one-year term.[2]Ira Allen was re-elected to a one-year term as treasurer.[2] The names of candidates and balloting totals were not recorded.[2]
