With France and Spain on the side of the reigning monarch,Stanisław Leszczyński , and Prussia, Russia and Austria supportingAugustus III , a preliminary peace is signed that is ratified as theTreaty of Vienna (1738) . By the terms of the treaty, Stanisław Leszczyński renounces his claim on the Polish throne and recognizesAugustus III , Duke of Saxony.
