Ísafjarðarbær (Icelandic pronunciation:[ˈiːsaˌfjarðarˌpaiːr̥]) is amunicipality ofIceland in theWestfjords region, created in 1996 fromFlateyrarhreppur,Ísafjarðarkaupstaður,Mosvallahreppur,Mýrahreppur,Suðureyrarhreppur andÞingeyrarhreppur.[2]
The principal settlement isÍsafjörður, others beingHnífsdalur,Flateyri,Suðureyri andÞingeyri.
Local football clubVestri plays in the country's second tier as of 2022. They play their home games at theTorfnesvöllur in Ísafjörður.
