- convert a wide-character code to a character
#include <stdlib.h>intwctomb(char *s,wchar_twchar);
Thewctomb() function determines the number of bytes needed to represent thecharacter corresponding to the wide-character code whose value iswchar. It storesthe character representation (possibly multiple bytes) in the array object pointed to bys (ifs is not a null pointer). At mostMB_CUR_MAX bytesare stored.
A call withs as a null pointer causes this function toreturn0. The behavior of this function is affected by theLC_CTYPEcategory of the current locale.
Ifs is a null pointer,wctomb() returns0 value. Ifsis not a null pointer,wctomb() returns-1 if the value ofwchar does not correspond to a valid character, or returns the number ofbytes that constitute the character corresponding to the value ofwchar.
In no case will the value returned be greater than the valueof theMB_CUR_MAX macro.
No errors are defined.
Thewctomb() function can be used safely in a multithreaded application, aslong assetlocale(3C) is not being called to change the locale.
