- get and set process-shared attribute of barrier attributes object
cc-mt [flag... ]file... [library... ]#include <pthread.h>intpthread_barrierattr_getpshared(const pthread_barrierattr_t *restrictattr,int *restrictpshared);
intpthread_barrierattr_setpshared(pthread_barrierattr_t *attr,intpshared);
Thepthread_barrierattr_getpshared() function obtains the value of theprocess-shared attribute from theattributes object referenced byattr. Thepthread_barrierattr_setpshared() function sets theprocess-shared attributein an initialized attributes object referenced byattr.
Theprocess-shared attribute is set toPTHREAD_PROCESS_SHARED to permit a barrier tobe operated upon by any thread that has access to the memorywhere the barrier is allocated. If theprocess-shared attribute isPTHREAD_PROCESS_PRIVATE, thebarrier will only be operated upon by threads created within the sameprocess as the thread that initialized the barrier. If threads of differentprocesses attempt to operate on such a barrier, the behavior is undefined.
The default value of the attribute isPTHREAD_PROCESS_PRIVATE. Both constantsPTHREAD_PROCESS_SHARED andPTHREAD_PROCESS_PRIVATE are defined in <pthread.h>.
No barrier attributes other than theprocess-shared attribute are provided.
Upon successful completion, thepthread_barrierattr_getpshared() function returns 0 and stores the valueof theprocess-shared attribute ofattr into the object referenced by thepshared parameter. Otherwise, an error number is returned to indicate the error.
Upon successful completion, thepthread_barrierattr_setpshared() function returns 0. Otherwise, an error numberis returned to indicate the error.
These functions may fail if:
The value specified byattr is invalid.
Thepthread_barrierattr_setpshared() function may fail if:
The new value specified for theprocess-shared attribute is not one of the legal valuesPTHREAD_PROCESS_SHARED orPTHREAD_PROCESS_PRIVATE.
