- reposition a file pointer in a stream
#include <stdio.h>intfsetpos(FILE *stream,const fpos_t *pos);
Thefsetpos() function sets the file position indicator for the stream pointedto bystream according to the value of the object pointed tobypos, which must be a value obtained from an earlier calltofgetpos(3C) on the same stream.
A successful call tofsetpos() function clears the end-of-file indicator for thestream and undoes any effects ofungetc(3C) on the same stream. After anfsetpos() call, the next operation on an update stream maybe either input or output.
Thefsetpos() function returns0 if it succeeds; otherwise it returns anon-zero value and setserrno to indicate the error.
Thefsetpos() function may fail if:
The file descriptor underlyingstream is not valid.
The file descriptor underlyingstream is associated with a pipe, a FIFO, or a socket.
Thefsetpos() function has a transitional interface for 64-bit file offsets. Seelf64(5).
