The <syslog.h> header defines the following symbolic constants, zero or more ofwhich can be OR'ed together to form thelogopt option ofopenlog():
Log the process ID with each message.
Log to the system console on error.
Connect to syslog daemon immediately.
Delay open untilsyslog() is called.
Do not wait for child processes.
The following symbolic constants are defined as possible values of thefacilityargument toopenlog():
reserved for message generated by the system
message generated by a process
reserved for message generated by mail system
reserved for message generated by news system
reserved for message generated by UUCP system
reserved for message generated by system daemon
reserved for message generated by authorization daemon
reserved for message generated by clock daemon
reserved for message generated by printer system
reserved for local use
reserved for local use

The following is declared as a macro for constructing themaskpri argumenttosetlogmask(). The following macro expands to an expression of typeintwhen the argumentpri is an expre ssion of typeint:

The following constants are defined as possible values for thepriority argumentofsyslog():
A panic condition was reported to all processes.
A condition that should be corrected immediately.
A critical condition.
An error message.
A warning message.
A condition requiring special handling.
A general information message.
A message useful for debugging programs.
