- Internet Protocol family
#include <netinet/in.h>
The <netinet/in.h> header defines the following types throughtypedef:
An unsigned integral type of exactly 16 bits.
An unsigned integral type of exactly 32 bits. The <netinet/in.h> header defines thein_addr structure that includes the following member:
The <netinet/in.h> header defines thein_addr structure that includes the following member:
in_addr_t s_addr
The <netinet/in.h> header defines the typesa_family_t as described insocket.h(3HEAD).
The <netinet/in.h> header defines the following macros for use as values ofthelevel argument ofgetsockopt() andsetsockopt():
Dummy for IP
Control message protocol
TCP
User datagram protocol The <netinet/in.h> header defines the following macros for use as destination addresses forconnect(),sendmsg(), andsendto():
Local host address
Broadcast address
The <netinet/in.h> header defines thesockaddr_in structure that is used to storeaddresses for the Internet protocol family. Values of this type mustbe cast tostruct sockaddr for use with the socket interfaces.
For applications that do not require standard-conforming behavior (those that use thesocket interfaces described in section (3SOCKET) of the reference manual; seeIntro(3)andstandards(5)), the <netinet/in.h> header defines thesockaddr_in structure that includes thefollowing members:
sa_family_t sin_familyin_port_t sin_portstruct in_addr sin_addrchar sin_zero[8]
For applications that require standard-conforming behavior (those that use the socket interfacesdescribed in section (3XNET) of the reference manual; seeIntro(3) andstandards(5)),the <netinet/in.h> header defines thesockaddr_in structure that includes the following members:
sa_family_t sin_familyin_port_t sin_portstruct in_addr sin_addrunsigned char sin_zero[8]
