- Network Data Management Protocol daemon

Thendmpd daemon handles client Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) requests. NDMPis an open, enterprise-wide, network-based data management protocol used for backup andrecovery. Thendmpd daemon enables users to manage data backup and recovery usingData Management Application (DMA) clients. The NDMP protocol is used to coordinatedata movement and control between a DMA and an NDMP server orbetween two NDMP servers.
By default,ndmpd is disabled.
Successful completion.
An error occurred that prevented thendmpd daemon from initializing, such as failure to fork a process, mutex initialization.
Invalid command-line options were specified.
Network data management protocol server binary.
Network data management protocol log messages file. This file is deleted upon reboot.
A text file that stores information about the date and the level of dump backups.

Thendmpd daemon is managed by the service management facility (smf(5)), underthe service identifier:
svc:/system/ndmpd:default
Administrative actions on this service, such as enabling, disabling, or requesting restart,can be performed usingsvcadm(1M). The service's status can be queried using thesvcs(1) command.
