- kernel-level cryptographic framework daemon
kcfd
Thekcfd daemon helps in managing CPU usage by cryptographic operations performedin software by kernel threads. The system utilization associated with these threadsis charged to thekcfd process. It also does module verification forkernel cryptographic modules.
Only a privileged user can run this daemon.
Thekcfd daemon is automatically invoked in run level 1, after/usris mounted. A previously invokedkcfd daemon that is still running mustbe stopped before invoking anotherkcfd command.
Manually starting and restartingkcfd is not recommended. If it is necessaryto do so, use thecryptoadm(1M)start andstop subcommands.
The following exit values are returned:
Daemon started successfully.
Daemon failed to start.
