Synopsis

Star sets out to prove that party magician Preston Change-O is a real magician.

Plot

Star andMarco get invited to Sensei Brantley's thirty-eighth birthday bash which is surprisingly entertaining. When he mentions that a magician is coming, Star is curious as she had no idea magic users existed on Earth. Marco informs her that magicians on Earth are not real and that they simply perform tricks. The magician, Preston Change-O arrives and begins his tricks. However, whenever he does so, a small light exits a person's mouth and they become sad. Only Star sees this and accuses him of being a magic user, but Marco and Sensei tell her that she is imagining things. Eventually, she learns that he is a Joysucker and confronts him. He admits his deed, but says that he will stop and that he has a finale for Sensei.

The finale, of course, involves sucking everyone's remaining joy and Star blasts him and forces him to tell the truth. Preston tells everyone that his magic is fake and that he is a joysucker, but the audience is just mad that Star forced him to reveal his secrets. As everyone leaves, Star feels bad, but Sensei tells her that it does not matter as he still has his joy and that he will forget about it. Sensei reveals that he too believed that Preston was "a creep" and so he locked him in the trunk of his car. When Star checks the trunk, Preston is gone with only his hat left behind. Star proudly declares that she was right about Preston and Marco sighs in annoyance.

• When Sensei Brantley uses his karate moves to put out a fire, he mimics Ryu's Hadouken fromStreet Fighter.
