Marvel Studios Animation is an animation division and "mini studio" ofMarvel Studios.
History[]
The existence of an animation division within Marvel Studios was first revealed by executiveVictoria Alonso in an interview promoting the studio's first animated productionWhat If...?. The idea of an animated division was conceived during the series' production, as the studio felt animation allowed them to explore theMarvel Cinematic Universe's multiverse with much more creative freedom than live-action.[1][2]
By August 2021, Marvel started to actively develop its animated studio's infrastructure, opening 300 positions for artists to work on animation.[3][4] In that time, Brad Winderbaum and Alonso were promoted as the respective Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, and President of Physical, Post Production, VFX, and Animation.[5][6] By November 2021, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt was hired as Vice-President of Animation.[7] The studio was reported in January 2023 to be operating under the name "Marvel Studios Animation".[8]
