He was born in Glenn,California; Boyd began working for the studio in the early 1940s with shorts forPluto,Goofy, andDonald Duck before moving to special processes or special effects for animation which was headed byUb Iwerks. He and other effects animators worked on films, such asMake Mine Music,Melody Time,Cinderella,Sleeping Beauty,One Hundred and One Dalmatians,The Sword in the Stone,The Fox and the Hound, andThe Black Cauldron. He would also contribute to live action features, such asSon of Flubber,Mary Poppins,Charley and the Angel,The Watcher in the Woods, and stories from theDisneyland anthology series.
Outside of the feature films, Boyd also drew the Uncle Remus Sunday newspaper comic page from 1963 to 1972, and, as one of his projects, helped compileThe Walt Disney Story film for the various Disney parks as well as directing theUniverse of Energy forEpcot in 1982 before retiring in the following year.
He died on October 15, 1998.
