From1945-1950, she was the voice ofDaisy Duck in a number ofDonald Duck cartoons, such asDonald's Crime,Cured Duck,Donald's Double Trouble,Sleepy Time Donald,Donald's Dilemma andCrazy Over Daisy. For Daisy Duck's second appearance as aDisney cartoon character, Blondell took over, marking the debut of Daisy's "normal" voice. Blondell would voice Daisy for six of her nine speaking appearances during the era of classic shorts.
She was born into a vaudeville family. Her parents and siblings, Edward Jr. andJoan, were all entertainers. She once said, "Some member of my family has been in the theater ever since the time of Richard the Lionhearted." Her family comprised a vaudeville troupe, the "Bouncing Blondells", whose members were her parents, her sister and her brother. In 1935, she appeared in the Broadway production ofThree Men on a Horse at the Playhouse in New York City.
When she got older, Blondell became a popular featured radio actress in programs, likeI Love a Mystery,Yours Truly,Johnny Dollar,Lux Radio Theatre,Arch Oboler's Plays,Richard Diamond,Private Detective,Screen Directors Playhouse andThe Great Gildersleeve. Her television performances includedThe Life of Riley,I Love Lucy andWanted Dead or Alive.
Blondell co-starred with Ronald Reagan inAccidents Will Happen, withHans Conried inThe Twonky, and she also appeared inDaredevil Drivers andThree Sappy People.
Blondell died at age 70 in 1986 in Santa Monica, California from cancer.
