Freakier Friday is an upcoming American fantasy-comedy film, and a sequel to the2003Freaky Friday.Lindsay Lohan andJamie Lee Curtis from the original film, are set to reprise their roles. The film is scheduled to be released onAugust 8,2025.[2]
Synopsis[]
The story picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.[1]

OnMay 10,2023, it was reported that a sequel was in development, with bothJamie Lee Curtis andLindsay Lohan reprising their roles.[3]
OnJuly 10, 2023 Jamie Lee Curtis reproted that production on the film had been delayed, following the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.[8]
In March2024, Lindsey Lohan officially confirmed that it was happening.
On March 29, 2024,The Hollywood Reporter reported that Nisha Ganatra had been hired to direct the film.[9]
On August 10, 2024, D23 announced the title for the film will beFreakier Friday.[10]

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Elyse Hollander would be penning the script to the sequel.[3]

On June 7, 2024, it was reported that Julia Butters joined the cast in an undisclosed role.[5]
On June 14, 2024,Manny Jacinto reportedly entered talks to appear.[6]
OnJune 24, 2024,Deadline reported that original cast members,Mark Harmon,Chad Michael Murray,Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson,Lucille Soong,Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao were set to reprise their roles in the sequel, alongside newcomers, Sophia Hammons and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.[4]

OnJune 30, 2023, it was reported that filming is scheduled to begin sometime in2024.[11]

OnJune 24, 2024,Deadline reported that the film would have a nationwide theatrical release for2025.[4][2] OnOctober 11, 2024, it was announced thatFreakier Friday would be released in theaters onAugust 8, 2025.[12]
