Disney's Sequoia Lodge is a hotel situated atDisneyland Paris. It was designed by French architect Antoine Grumbach to evoke the atmosphere of the American National Park lodges built around the turn of the 20th century, such as the Old Faithful Inn (1904) in Yellowstone National Park and others in Yosemite and other Western National Parks.

The main lodge faces across Lake Disney towards theDisney Village and is home to many of the 1011 guest rooms as well as two restaurants (one of which specializes in grilled meat) and a hotel bar. Behind the main lodge are six smaller lodges, five of which contain the remainder of the rooms while the sixth lodge contains the hotel's swimming pool and leisure facilities. Surrounding the hotel are thousands of trees which were imported from the West Coasts of the United States and Canada, including hundreds of Sequoias.

The swimming pool is inspired by a wooden shack in Montana, in which a hot spring was located.

The hotel opened with theEuro Disney Resort in April 1992. On September 8, 1996, dozens of rooms were damaged by a fire.[1]

Trivia[]

  • According to architect Antoine Grumbach, he was asked in December to provide a design sketch and model for a presentation in Los Angeles on January 24th, which happened to be his birthday. When he arrived in Los Angeles to give the presentation for the design, he was up until two in the morning finding a suit, because his suitcases were missing. Not only that, but the crate containing the model had also been punctured. He gave the presentation the following day, which went well and the design was officially approved within one hour of the meeting.[2]
  • The hotel features a smallTemple of Love just above the pond, which is a design signature of Antoine Grumbach.
