On 15 September 2013, Dutch fisherman Hans Eelman found a large metal object near the island of Texel, using sonar. Sa quille fut posée le 7 janvier 1915 et il est mis en service le 16 novembre 1916. Le E36 est coulé le 19 janvier 1917 en mer du Nord au large de Harwich dans une collision avec le HMS E43. Il n’y a pas eu de survivants. Le 15 septembre 2013, le pêcheur néerlandais Hans Eelman a trouvé un gros objet métallique près de l’île de Texel, à l’aide d’un sonar. On a pensé que l’objet pourrait être l’épave d’un sous-marin de classe E, peut-être le E36, mais les rapports ultérieurs ont prouvé qu’il ne l’était pas. (fr)
